After a few very stressful weeks I was relieved that Arya’s bone marrow transplant is fixed for 08 April ‘09, He has got admitted today to the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York for the preparation and the procedure. I am hoping that the transplant happens as planned.
Bless the soul of the anonymous donor, who oblivious of the religion, race or nationality, stepped forward to save another soul! Hoping that the transplant happens successfully as planned.

The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing will be held September 30 - October 3 in Tucson, Arizona. The GHC 2009 theme is “Creating Technology for Social Good”. I have just submitted a proposal for the conference and will wait till mid-May to know if it gets selected.
This conference includes a large number of university students, university faculty and professionals from the computer industry. About half of Hopper attendees are university students.

As a follow up, it is very heartening to note that two matches have been found for Arya! The bone marrow drive that I was getting geared up for, in the Bay Area, is not required at this time. One of the anonymous donors has agreed to donate his bone marrow. The person is undergoing physical checkup. Arya will be getting ready for the bone marrow transplant by end of the month.
I pray that the procedure goes as planned and Arya is able to accept the donor cells easily. Arya is a positive child and a fighter!

Barack Obama today signed an order reversing the Bush administration’s strict limits on human embryonic stem cell research. It was refreshing to hear Mr. Obama speak on this topic before he signed the order. You can also read the text of his speech here.
Research involving human embryonic stem cells and human non-embryonic stem cells has shown great potential in several countries where this research is progressing.
