The results of the parliamentary elections in India, the largest democracy are out! In this election caste-based politics took a backseat and the country moved towards having a stable government!

Dr. Manmohan Singh, re-emerges as the Congress Prime Minister with much stronger support and with less dependence on supporting parties. Dr. Singh is an economist and has worked as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, in the Planning Commission and has been the Finance Minister. He has studied at Cambridge and Oxford. The man has played a very important role in the progress of the country.

The biggest surprise was in West Bengal where the Congress toppled the Communist party, who have been in power since 1977! This is a surpise to me since it seemed to me that the Communist party had done a phenomenal job of entrenching themselves into all strata of the social fabric. So, what went wrong for them?
