I have been thinking about Arya the whole day! Arya had the bone marrow transplant successfully done today, 08 April ‘09, his new birthday! This follows two weeks of intense preparation of the body for the transplant. This involves procedures to stop his body’s ability to make bone marrow. After the donor stem cells are injected, the new cells are meant to take over.

After a few very stressful weeks I was relieved that Arya’s bone marrow transplant is fixed for 08 April ‘09, He has got admitted today to the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York for the preparation and the procedure.  I am hoping that the transplant happens as planned.

Bless the soul of the anonymous donor, who oblivious of the religion, race or nationality, stepped forward to save another soul! Hoping that the transplant happens successfully as planned.

One of my dear friend’s son was diagnosed with cancer, a few days before his 8th birthday in 2006.  I had run the Nike Women’s Marathon in October 2007, in honour of Arya, the determined and adorable boy, I have known.
