I have been thinking about Arya the whole day! Arya had the bone marrow transplant successfully done today, 08 April ‘09, his new birthday! This follows two weeks of intense preparation of the body for the transplant. This involves procedures to stop his body’s ability to make bone marrow. After the donor stem cells are injected, the new cells are meant to take over.
Arya and his family have started an on-line journal to follow his journey and to keep family and friends informed of the developments. I hope and pray that his body accepts the new cells easily and he …

After a few very stressful weeks I was relieved that Arya’s bone marrow transplant is fixed for 08 April ‘09, He has got admitted today to the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York for the preparation and the procedure. I am hoping that the transplant happens as planned.
Bless the soul of the anonymous donor, who oblivious of the religion, race or nationality, stepped forward to save another soul! Hoping that the transplant happens successfully as planned.

One of my dear friend’s son was diagnosed with cancer, a few days before his 8th birthday in 2006. I had run the Nike Women’s Marathon in October 2007, in honour of Arya, the determined and adorable boy, I have known. My page from 2007 with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, when I did the fund raising, can be found here. Arya was responding well and in remission.
Unfortunately, in the beginning of the 2009, Arya was taken unwell again. The only option left for him is a bone marrow transplant. Finding a match is hard BUT possible. Currently 3 in …
